Patiently waiting for sunshine

Mother Nature is not cooperating at all with my attempts to share with you the many sights and wonders of our gorgeous countryside this spring.  In other words, rain, rain and...wait for it...wait for it... more rain. Waiting and wishing for sunshine have become as tedious as watching the sands of time drift slowly by (hence my lovely picture above).

However the grass is green, super-green, the flowers are in full bloom, brightening up the gloomy days and when the rain does pause, our community lawn mowing competition is generating at full throttle.  On less windy days the delicate pink and white blossoms stay on our gorgeous trees and our neighborhood groundhog "Bubba" can be seen scooting himself around the wetlands.  (Bubba is aptly named and will be stalked until a good photo can be taken.)

Since shooting photos in pouring rain truly isn't my thing; sharing some photos from last spring and summer might just brighten up my day and inspire some readers to come visit Lancaster County.

Sadly, it didn't last long.

The bargain of the year - basil for pesto for just $10!
Seriously.
Another fabulous buy at my Amish neighbor's produce stand!
Beats out Whole Foods everytime.

It's time now to close and go practice the happy, sunshine dance;
obviously the rain dance works.

"Drop those Eggs!"

Chants of "Drop those Eggs! Drop those Eggs!" could be heard Saturday morning at the Grace Ministries Church in Lititz, PA where hundreds of kids waited excitedly for a helicopter to fly overhead.  With a quick tease, the helicopter stirred up the restless crowd with a rapid fly-over and then circled back around in wet and windy weather to drop thousands of eggs across a soccer field for the children to gather.  The ropes were raised and the organized mayhem began.

This is our family's second appearance at what was the "5th Annual Easter Party & Egg Hunt" at the church.  What a wonderful gift this event is to the entire community.  This church opens its' arms and doors to anyone wishing to join in the festivities - regardless of one's faith, or even non-faith.  Once the egg gathering ends, the doors open wide to the gymnasium where wonderful games and crafts are waiting for the children, hosted by the church youth group members.  This year included visits and photo opps with the Easter bunny, as well as balloon animals, face painting, bounce houses and a really fun magic show.    This event is always extremely well-organized; and they run three different times each year making it easily accessible for most anyone's schedule.

Thank you Grace Ministries for opening your arms to our family and many others - we loved every second of it!  Happy Easter everyone.
